About

The Alzheimer Society of Durham Region (ASDR) is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to supporting people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, as well as their families and care partners. Founded in 1979, ASDR works closely with local and regional agencies to provide education, programs, and resources that improve quality of life and empower communities.

Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, ASDR is part of a network of 38 Alzheimer Society chapters in Ontario, all working together to advance research, education, and dementia-friendly initiatives. Accredited by the Canadian Centre for Accreditation, ASDR relies on funding from Ontario Health, fundraising activities, donations, and grants to deliver high-quality, community-centered services.

With a focus on education, advocacy, and care, the Society continually seeks to expand its reach, strengthen local health systems, and support a better experience for people affected by dementia throughout Durham Region.
